A Mother's Day Tribute To Moms Who Work Hard

Picture this: It’s 5:30 AM on a Monday. The alarm goes off, and it’s time to get the day started, while the rest of the house is still asleep. By the time everyone else gets their day started, breakfast is ready and waiting, and lunches are packed for the day ahead.

There’s a quiet rhythm to it all. The kettle boiling in the background, the soft shuffle between rooms, then a mental checklist already running before the first cup of coffee is even poured.

If you’re a mom reading this, it probably feels a little too familiar. Because to you, this isn’t merely a picture, it’s an excerpt taken from your daily routine.

In this blog, we’re stepping into that space - the unseen work, the mental load, and the quiet resilience that keeps everything moving even when no one is watching.

The Things You Don’t Always See: The Invisible Load of Motherhood

Many moms might know that their hard work and effort go beyond the visible tasks. It lives in the background of everything else, and this mental load never really switches off.

So, what is this ‘invisible load’ that mothers shoulder?

The invisible load refers to the hidden work that often goes unnoticed when running a household. It can be seen specifically in the mental load carried by moms, the emotional labour they provide to the family, and all the planning and anticipation that life requires.

For example, the automatic cognitive work that is required for tasks such as remembering birthdays, school admin such as monitoring emails, what groceries need to be topped up and when, and when and what meals need to be prepared.

But that’s not all, because even when moms are not thinking about everything that needs to get done, they are also providing invisible labour emotionally. This entails de-escalating tantrums, providing emotional support during rough days at school, and sometimes, even sensing the temperature of the room and calmly shifting the mood.

The point is, not only are moms physically always on the move, but their minds are also constantly moving a mile a minute while still often balancing work and hobbies - because after all, you need your interests for sanity!

Making Space For You

In all of this constant giving, it’s easy for a mom to place herself at the very bottom of her own list.

But remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. So to all the moms out there, reading and resonating with this blog, we want to take this moment to remind you that you are still your own person, with your own needs and interests.

Making space for yourself is not a selfish choice, and it also doesn’t necessarily mean grand gestures or major lifestyle changes. Sometimes, it’s as simple as returning to the things that you enjoy, whether it’s reading, watching the sun set, going for a stroll, or taking a moment to be creative.

And sometimes, it’s also how you show up for yourself every day. What you wear, and how your clothes make you feel. This small, but powerful shift can make all the difference!

Apparel & Footwear That Works As Hard As You Do

As life moves through its many demands, what you wear should be one less thing to think about. Comfort, durability, and style shouldn’t compete with each other; they should work together.

That’s the thinking behind our footwear and apparel. We wanted to create pieces that satisfied all the needs of hard-working individuals, such as fit, function, and, of course, fashion.

And when considering who these individuals are, well, it became clear over time that moms embody this quiet strength every day. We recognise that mothers carry a load far bigger than some of our industrial Caterpillar machines.

So, it only makes sense that their wardrobes keep up with the same momentum! This month, in honour of Mother’s Day, we are giving one lucky mom the chance to win a full Caterpillar outfit complete with footwear built for comfort, strength, and everyday life.
